Community is Everywhere

Interquilten, Interlochen, MI

While on vacation recently, I bought fabric at a big-box store. (I had promised to make my mom some summer pants.) It was the only fabric store in this rural area — or so I thought. At the register I asked the cashier, “Is there a local sewing community?” She said, “I haven’t been to it, but I hear there’s a new fabric/quilting shop about 20 miles away. I can write down how to get there.” Over the next few days, I found my way 20 miles south, and there it was in a small red log house, off the highway. The place is one room (!) but has a big table and holds classes on all sorts of crafts. Now I call that a community! Check it out.
